WHALERS LATE COMEBACK SPOILED IN SHOOTOUT BY FORMER TEAMMATE

PLYMOUTH, MI - Sean O'Connor scored the only goal of the shootout as the London Knights defeated Plymouth, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the John Labatt Centre in London. O'Connor was acquired by the Knights from the Whalers on Wednesday.

AJ Jenks (13), Chris Terry (15) and Joe McCann (6) scored for Plymouth, all in the third period as the Whalers rallied from a 2-0 London lead after forty minutes to tie the game and send it into overtime. Akim Aliu (4), Jadran Beljo (14) and Justin Taylor (12) scored for London.

Jeremy Smith stopped 43-of-46 shots as the game's third star for Plymouth. Steve Mason stopped 33-of-36 shots for London as the game's second star. The London Free Press offers an excellent game story with a Detroit-area twist.

Plymouth is now 13-7-1-1, good for 28 points.  London goes to 14-8-0-1.

Whalers and Knights have played three games this year, with London winning in regulation, 3-2, on Oct. 26 and the other two games going to shootouts this weekend.

Whalers host Saginaw on Wednesday, Sault Ste. Marie on Friday afternoon and Sudbury on Saturday.
