WHALERS DROP THE PUCK on PRESEASON THIS SATURDAY.

The Whalers open the pre-season on Saturday, September 4 at 7pm against Windsor in Chelsea, MI for the "The Clash at the Coliseum". Tickets are available at the Compuware Arena box office.

WHITES 5, BLUES 1 on THURSDAY MORNING.

Veteran James Livingston led the attack as the Whites defeated the Blues, 5-1, in the opening scrimmage of training camp held Thursday morning at Compuware Arena.

The scrimmages are played in two 30-minute halves:

FIRST HALF:

Blues - Austin Mattson (Sean Myers, Austin Levi) 1:01

Whites - Ben Holtom (John Livingston) 6:31

Whites - James Livingston (Adam Nanji) 12:58

The Whites and Blues scrimmage again today from 2-4pm and then Friday from 9-11am and 2-4pm.  The scrimmages are open to the public and media. Rosters will be provided the day of the scrimmages.

The Whalers might receive offense from many sources this year.

WHALERS SEEK OFF-ICE OFFICIALS.

The Whalers are looking for a few adults to join Plymouth's Off-ice Officials.

Individuals will perform jobs during Whalers games such as working the penalty box area, working as a goal judge, charting ice-time, keeping statistical data and other duties.

This position is voluntary.  Anyone interested can email Pete Krupsky or call the Whalers office at (734) 453-8400.

WHALERS ALUMNI BATTLE TO 14-14 DRAW.

There were more smiles than goals Aug. 7 at Compuware Arena as the Blue and White battled to a 14-14 draw in the second annual Plymouth Whalers Alumni Game. In case you missed it, here's the roster for the game.

LEVI TAKES STEPS TOWARDS NHL DREAM.

Two years ago, Austin Levi split time between the Whalers and Compuware Midget Major team. Last season, he kept progressing and was named the Whalers Most Improved Player. In June, he was rewarded by being selected 85th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2010 NHL Draft, but Levi knows he still has a lot of work to do before he reaches his ultimate goal.

CAROLINA PROSPECTS PLAY IN TRAVERSE CITY TOURNAMENT.

Austin Levi, Michal Jordan, and Matt Caria will be playing for Carolina in the 2010 Prospects Tournament and Training Camp in Traverse City from September 11-15. Tyler Brown will play with Pittsburgh prospects in London from September 11-14, while Jamie Devane will play for Toronto in the same tournament.

WHALERS RJ MAHALAK MAKES POSITIVE IMPACT at CANTON LIBRARY.

The Plymouth Whalers take pride in their community efforts and have been acknowledged by having the past two OHL Humanitarian of the Year recipients (including Ryan Hayes as the CHL's winner this season). The players know that their impact in the community is a continuous effort and the local players have been busy all summer, especially forward RJ Mahalak who has made the Canton Library's Reading Program all his own. WHALERS ALUMS SIGN PRO CONTRACTS.

Tom Sestito, who was a part of the Whalers championship team in 2006-07, has resigned with the Columbus Blue Jackets.  Justin Peters, who played for the Whalers in 2005-06 and will play in the Alumni game on August 7th, has resigned with the Carolina Hurricanes.  Also, former Whalers captain John Mitchell has re-signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Former goaltender Jason Bacashihua, who recently won the Calder Cup with the Hershey Bears and played for the Whalers from 2001-02, has signed with the Colorado Avalanche along with former defenseman David Liffiton, who played for the Whalers from 2001-04. In addition, defenseman Ryan McGinnis has signed a pro contract with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL.

WHALERS AND OHL ANNOUNCE SCHEDULE.

The Plymouth Whalers will open the 2010-11 season on the road and kick-off the OHL season on Thursday, September 23 against the back-to-back OHL and Memorial Cup Champions Windsor Spitfires followed by a game in London on Friday, September 24. The Whalers home opener will be against the defending Eastern Conference Champion Barrie Colts on Saturday, September 25 at 7:05pm at Compuware Arena.

WHALERS TYLER SEGUIN, RYAN HAYES WIN CHL AWARDS.

The Canadian Hockey League announced the winners of 10 awards on Saturday, which included two members of the Whalers as winners. Tyler Seguin was named the CHL's Top Prospect while Ryan Hayes captured the CHL's Humanitarian of the Year Award. They are the first Whalers to win a Canadian Hockey League Award since James Wisniewski was named the CHL's Defenseman of the Year in 2003-04.

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUE, EA SPORTS ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP.

Four-year agreement sees CHL teams part of EA SPORTS NHL 11.

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUE TO LAUNCH NEW ONLINE NETWORK.

All CHL websites will be re-designed in time for 2010-11 season.
